Your analysis of Rudyard Kipling’s poem The Vampire was one of the most interesting ones I have read. The Vampire is a very interesting poem and, now, one of my favorites. The way you explored the ideas of relationships that emphasize that relationships can end up leaving in a worst condition than one was in originally was a unique twist on the poem. Your analysis of the differences that men, women, and children experience in their relationships, as shown by Kipling, was excellent, as your well-chosen quotations and lines from the poem helped support your claim. I especially enjoyed how you related the title of the poem to the woman portrayed in the poem.
The woman depicted in the poem is actually related to a vampire who deceived and manipulates others – a point you made but I did not catch until you pointed it out. I also like how you analyzed Kipling’s use of authorial intrusion to break down the barrier between the author and the reader, which is key when writing any piece of literature. I think that if you included more incorporated quotations in your essay, it would be even better. But overall, a very well written analysis essay for a poem that is unique and eccentric from others.
